The 1990s saw the emergence of more sophisticated systems, but it wasn’t until the 2010s that AR and VR began to gain mainstream traction with the advent of devices like the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
Meta, formerly known as Facebook, significantly impacted the release of the Oculus Rift in 2016. The company continued to innovate with the standalone Oculus Quest in 2019, which offered untethered VR experiences.
